• Dasher是由 David MacKay领导下的 Inference Group开发, , David MacKay是物理系的一位高级讲师,同时也是信息科技公司 Transversal的联合创始人. David在1997年开发了Dasher的第一个原型.
• David Ward从1998年到2002年开发了Dasher的研究版本( research version) ;作为他的博士学位研究, David将Dasher转化为一个实际工作的软件系统, 加入了很多改进, 并作了许多试验来验证它的实际效率. David现在供职于Spiral Software, Cambridge.

Uses ppm as the language model. Driven by mouse.
written by David Ward.
Version 1.*.* supports several European languages and Japanese (Hiragana). English version can support capital letters and lower case. This version's language model can be instructed both by loading an example input file and by loading a dictionary of valid spellings.

C - 掌上电脑

Driven by stylus on touch-screen.

This version includes capital letters, numbers, and a number of punctuation characters. Only English is supported.

Version 2.*.* - C - for linux and windows desktops

Version 2.*.* supports English, upper and lower case, punctuation and numbers. It will be released as Open Source, as version 3, in late Summer 2002.

Japanese-language version of Dasher (Hiragana) - included in the C and tcl version

Demonstrates the relationship to arithmetic coding; includes a crude bigram language model.
